Default 130 mass shootings in 2023

We are just 87 days into 2023 and there have been around 130 mass shootings in America already this year. A mass shooting is when 4 or more people are shot. There have been almost 10,000 people shot in 2023 in the USA.
Average is 1.49 mass shootings per day and about 114.9 people per day.

The figures are shocking. The fact that you can still buy a gun with "ease" is unbelievable but and it is big but, if you were to ban gun sales today, you wont stop the shootings, so many guns have been sold in America.

Odd how the mentality across countries in the world differs.

It’s truly tragic, especially for the families of the deceased and injured. It’s a carry over from the vaunted and haunted ‘right to carry a gun’ whilst forgetting the rights and expectations of others to lead safe and peaceful lives.

It’s happening now, here, and once started and not stopped ‘dead’ in its tracks, can only grow. Curiously, the ‘Western’ movie business seems to be oblivious.

Fans of Biblical stories such as The Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston as Moses (!) and, more recently, shouting on stage ‘They will have to tear my gun from my cold dead hand’ in support of the NRA, must be choking.

In my view, to carry an unauthorised firearm should result in, no pun intended, Life in prison.

I wonder how many shootings are with legally owned guns.
I saw something, perhaps a couple of years ago, about a gun store worker not being happy selling a gun to a customer but sold it anyway, the customer went on to murder with the gun.

I remember years ago visiting a friend and colleague in Dallas, Texas and being shown his gun collection. He took a .38 pistol from a shelf and handed it to me. He seemed surprised when I cleared the gun and took out the magazine before looking at it.

You're safe with a gun was all he could say!

The shocking thing is over 10,000 people have been killed by guns in the USA this year already. That is over 40k a year.

A mass shooting is 4 or more people have been killed in one go. In the UK one person gets killed and its headlines.

As they were saying on the news yesterday sending your kids to school is not a safe place.

Since I posted just 21 days ago the mass shootings have gone up 30 to 160.
Apparently 647 mass shootings last year, 1.77 a day
https://www.nytimes.com/article/mass...e%20fatalities.

Last year England and Wales combined had 1.9 murders a day last year.
Last year USA had a mass shooting for almost every murder we had
