Hi Robert.
Do you have an FBH fitted to your car, if so try unplugging the connector with the six wires, sometimes only three wires. 1 If it works and all is ok then you can cut the red & white wire which is K-Bus wire. We had this happen at the Nano meet the weekend.

Thanks Simon So.. because we can use toaf and "test" the wiper speed both fast and slow works when run via toaf. Surely this means we can eliminate the blue with light green wire as an issue due to the bcu sending the signal to the wiper motor to operate at fast or slow speed as requested via toaf. If so, we can concentrate on the blue with green tracer. - this also happens to be the wire that was scotch locked to the orange wire. When the scotch lock was removed.. we then had no rear wiper, no fast speed wiper at the front. So... I'll check this wire but having already removed both fuse boxes and the bcu, corrosion isn't the issue and the fact when this blue with green tracer was connected to the orange, everything worked, but had constant fast wipers must mean it's getting a feed.. little bit stumped at the moment but I'll double check for anything I may have missed. In reply to arctic, no fbh fitted. Thanks Rob |

Hi Rob,
Thanks for coming back on this. Yes, I agree about the blue with light green tracer. Rear wiper inoperative Has the rear wiper relay been removed by the previous owner? On the two purple wires at the relay you should see permanent battery voltage via fuse 42. Is the WG wire between relay and BCU intact? Front wipers inoperative on fast speed except via TOAF TOAF will no doubt control the wipers directly via the BCU, by-passing the wiper stalk switch. Therefore at the switch is where the problem may lie. Can you locate a LGR wire between switch and BCU? That is, I think, slow speed. There's also a LGU (light green with blue tracer) which is, I think, fast speed and flick wipe (a single stroke of the wipers). Has the previous owner interfered with these? Where is the OG wire connected at the wiper switch and where does it come from? Simon

A quick update here...
So after trying a few more things, the blue with dark green stripe (ulg) we bodged a bit of wire into the underside connector of the fusebox in the engine bay then joined the other end of this wire to the bcu connector end and spliced into the blue and dark green wire here. Everything worked correctly. So having now removed the blue and dark green striped wire from the loom from relay to bcu plug and replaced it with another length of wire... Hey presto Conclusion ... Internal break is most likely... On to the next issue then .. alarm mislock, inertia switch? Thanks for all the help everyone |
