Unhappy Suspect ECU ?

Hi. I have ad a 55 plate 75 diesel manual for around three years which has run perfectly. Last week I went 7 miles to Tesco's with no problem but then wouldn't start again. The AA came out and noticed that there was no sounds from the in tank fuel pump and towed me home. I have made a direct connection to the fuel pump from another battery and it runs fine so I suspected the the ECU could be at fault. The plenam chamber was dry as was the ECU but there are some slight signs of corrosion on the heads of the lower screw heads so maybe in the past there was some damp around. I have taken the cover off the ECU and the inside looks dry. Therefore the question is am I right to suspect the ECU and where can I get it checked and repaired if required. Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.

It would be best to get the ECU tested and see if it is that or if the fault lies elsewhere.
I can test it for you if you wish, if it does require repair or replacement then can do this also
Please send me message and will be happy to help.

Russ

Just to close this. BigRuss confirmed the the ECU was faulty and supplied a replacement at a very reasonable cost. Although there were signs of damp I also found that when I had the battery changed recently they had loosened the battery negative lead from the body earth point (the lead was short because at some time the original battery connector had been replaced with an ordinary clamp) but had not done it back up again. I think that there is a good chance that this bad connection could also have contributed the the ECU's demise. All sorted now and back on the road again.
