![]() A sad tale with no happy ending. For some years I've been annoyed and failed to find a suspension rattle, after changing almost everything including top mounts, front shocks, lower wishbones and many drop links. About the only thing left were the ARB bushes. So diligently reading up threads on this forum I equipped myself with a pair of DMGR bushes, new flexi-head ratchet wrench and 10mm long reach socket: I already had a crowbar. So today biting the bullet I ran the diesel up on my low rise ramps, crawled on my back struggled as usual with removing the under tray a scant inch or so off my nose - to then hunt for the bushes.
I should have been aware that this was not going to be a pushover but was horrified to see how hidden the bushes are. Ye Gods I could only just see one of the bolts, let alone the other - I believe there are two - and how on earth was I going to undo them and get the old bushes off that were no doubt firmly welded to the ARB after 160,000 miles and 19 years. So I pulled and pushed the ARB as well as I could and felt no movement at all, so I gave up. Leave well alone. I could see myself struggling for hours and knowing my luck I might have got one off and then failed to replace it. No, I remember reading once that the mark of a good artist is knowing when to stop. So I have. PS If anyone wants to make me an offer for two unused ARB Bushes together with an unworn flexi-head ratchet and appropriate 10mm deep socket - but NOT the crowbar - just drop me a line.

![]() I had to undo the ARB bushes when changing the lower arms and arm bushes on my car. Access was indeed very tight and the job was a real pain in the backside. I'm still not sure how I managed to get a torque wrench in there when putting it back together.
As for jobs I've given up on, I previously gave up on an entire project car, a Mitsubishi 3000GT. After about 2 years of chipping away at it very slowly, I realised it would probably be another 10 before I was finished. I sold it on and used the proceeds to buy something very different, my Triumph Dolomite which fortunately is in much better shape.

![]() I have given up trying to fix water leaks into the rear of my Tourer.
Every time it rains, I have to change the towels that soak up the rain water. It is a shame to see the rear of the car without its side panels macafee2 |

![]() I never give up, just put things off for another day, which is fatal. I've had a new condenser in the bedroom waiting to be fitted for ages, a towbar in the garage to fit, only got half of my brake discs replaced, etc.etc. As the years progress, my enthusiasm seems to wane. Not that long ago I used to love getting up on A Saturday morning if I had a job to do on the car, it was a real buzz, too many distractions at the moment
