Can't see a worn bearing causing any damage to the stub.

I had the same, bearing came apart when trying to remove it and it was ridiculously hard to get off. Ended up damaging the axle. Stuck a new bearing on for to get me around until I got a replacement trailing arm and fitted that which was actually a pretty easy job.
