Default Replaced Alpine CD changer - wrong connector

Hi guys

The CD changer in my Rover 75 2.5 Connoisseur (1997) was dead when I bought her, and I got a new Alpine CD changer from Ebay. It is brand new (party no XQE100230).

When I went to plug it in... it has a different connector. It has a round DIN type connector where my old one is square.

My question is, is it possible to use this changer with my car or will it not work at all? It looks identical in every way except for the damn connector! I have been told that it will not work at all by someone but thought I would post up here just in case.

thanks very much

Robsa

PS I think my head unit is a symphony - it has a cassette player with it. And my changer is in the glove box.

I don't think it will work as the Symphony and CD changer, although made by Alpine, are modified to work with the Rover electrics.
The part number you have is not one of the changers in this thread - http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...hread.php?t=34

XQE100230 is the changer for previous generation Rovers, the 600/400/200 etc. As raykay says it won't work in a ZT/75.

I have a few of them things in my Spares store from when the 600's were plentiful.

Firstly I need to declare that I'm not an expert on this...

But can you see what colour the wires are?
