Question Fitting a tow bar

Hi,

I've got hold of a used tow bar for my May 2001 Connie Saloon from another owner. It has a label saying Rover Australia (makes sense, that's where I am...) so I think it is authentic.

My problem is that the rear bumper cover (with Rover parking sensors) doesn't want to go back on. It stops about half an inch short of lining up the holes for the mounting clips.

I have the towing kit fitting instructions. Its parts list appears to show two polystyrene blocks that go over the middle part of the tow bar. I don't have these, just the ones that were originally fitted to the car.

Any wise advice or comment?

Thanks.

Post 2 above and very informative.

However to simplify the power supply to the relay unit it's many time easier to run a lead, through and in-line fuse, from the battery and UNDERNEATH the car to the boot where the relay is located. This will take minutes rather than hours through the car.---

Plus messing about with in-car wiring can bring up lots of accidental head aches.--
