Insurance. Always worth a call
Well it's insurance time again and i received my renewal quote from Endsleigh. £468.58 Pretty much double what i paid last year So obviously do the GoCompare thing and the AA quote for £200 less, onwards to Endsleigh and after some negotiation they quote for £230 for better cover than i had previously They couldn't, however, explain why the hike in premium from last year!
Moral of the story is always to call the robbing b*****ds or move to another company!!

Always best to "Compare The Market"! I think most of us realise that they will just write our cars off at a whim, so it's best to be road legal at the best quote we can. I usually stick with a major company for the sake of a few quid though. (AA or Halifax have been my options the last twice).

For some reason, since l've had my 75, Tesc*bank have always been cheaper than the opposition by quite a margin, even Tesc* Insurance. Can't think why.
It'll probably be a bit more this year as l had a minor bump in the ice earlier in the year. I can probably get her on my classic policy next year as she'll be twenty years old.

My renewal 'invitation' is due to arrive during the first week of April and I'll be interested to see how much it will be, especially as I'll be doing (and have done) minimal mileage due to the pandemic. The price last year was roughly the same as the previous year, and - oddly enough - lower than the best quote I could find on any of the comparison sites. I didn't question it in case they'd made a mistake!

Last year my best quote came from O2 ( YES I know its a phone company ) fully comp for £230 with 20+ protected years of N/C ... yet when it came up for renewal they said can't give me cover but recommend another company at nearly twice the price.

Loyalty seems to mean “sucker” now, as clearly they could offer you the lower price on renewal but they hope you’ll just renew for ease. Tbh I’ve have to look up who my car/ house insurers are now as I change so often!

Agreed value
The 75 and MGZT are definitely classics or fast becoming so. So it worthwhile contacting one of the classic car insurance specialists like Adrian Flux. I have used Footman James for my Alfa and Lancia for years and not only will they insure on an agreed value basis but you can have more than one car on the policy for huge savings.
The agreed value concept is good. If you have spent £5 grand on renovations you do not want scrap value because that is what the data base says. Cheers Simon ZTT |

I've just insured my ZT for the first time, ready to tax it for 1st April.I have a MGB GT on classic car insurance with Cherished Vehicle Insurance Services (co.uk) and also put the ZT on with it.
They quoted me 2 prices 1st for 12months stand alone policy which was £235.00 fully comp,28 years NCB Protected(but you don't accumulate it on classic car policy) 3,000 miles p/year.2nd option was to add to my BGT for £151.00 for 7 months As Rogue says it's better to phone them and ask why they want to charge so much more than last year.If the price of insurance doesn't go up by much then i'll renew with that company,if it goes up too much Good Bye.
