Help Welcomed For A Technical Dunce!
Hi, can anyone recommend a Rover specialist garage near postcode BD21 as I cannot seem to get the hiline satnav working in my 1999 Rover 75 2.5 V6.
I bought it last year but the satnav wasn't working. Since then it has had a new disc, a new unit in the boot, and latterly a new head unit, none of which has sorted out the issue. I have had it to the Rover specialist in Bradford, it was there that the new disc unit in the boot was fitted, but obviously this made no difference. Do any of the wise owls on the site have any advice for me please? Thanks. |

Hi, the issue is that the satnav only pipes up occasionally and when it does it's always advising me to do a u-turn or take the next left when there isn't one for miles! The map doesn't seem to show any details, but it seems to think i'm somewhere in Teesside instead of West Yorkshire.
I would have thought replacing the boot unit and/or the head unit would sort it, but so far nope! |

Have you plugged the receiver into the back of the sat nav when you fitted it?, (Mk 2 sat nav has a trimble unit on top of sat nav and it plugs in there,) Mk 3 no trimble, receiver plugs straight into the back of the unit

Thanks for the replies guys, the ABS light isn't on (assuming it hasn't been disconnected at some time in the past!) and i'm not sure about the fixings on the back, the replacement head unit I got just seemed to have one big 'socket' so the mechanic I asked to look at it presumably just put the new one back the same as the old one came out. Should there be more than one attachment on the back?

The head unit only has a blue plug and a white plug to the rear. The sat receiver is a single lead plugs into the back of the sat nav or trimble and if it plugs into the trimble then that in turn plugs into the satnav.
So, you need to see the wiring configuration behind the sat nav unit. Has the sat nav unit in the boot been replaced? As said earlier in this thread if you cannot fix it then Bigruss can and he won't charge you the earth.
