Before you buy a new alternator...
Hi all, after having to manhandle the ZTT up a slight incline on muddy cobbles the other night, I thought that I would pass this on.
Once we got it to a point where I could get the jump leads on it, it fired up straight away but the charging light was on and remained on for the 3 mile drive home and also the fuel guage was registering empty and didn't move (had half a tank on board). It just crept onto the drive before the battery gave out. As I had changed the alternator about 18months ago I was mildly disappointed. Before purchasing another alternator, I thought that I would check the fuses. Mine has the newer in car fuse box so fuse number 14 was taken out inspected, found to be good, sworn at and replaced. On the off chance, I restarted the car and all is good . I guess that it had lifted slightly , didn't look dirty but anyway, good result so thought I would pass it on to the collective. |
