Classics for Carers - Stay at Home Car Show - Sunday 7th June
Classics for Carers is a nationwide car show to raise money for NHS charities and takes place on owners very own driveways. The idea is to display your car where people passing will see it, and money is raised for NHS Charities Together (the umbrella organisation of over 220 different NHS charities) by the sale of rally plates or stickers to display on the vehicle and via donations made by those who see your car and follow the link on the plate/sticker and poster with a QR code to print out and place on your car. You could even leave a bucket out for folk to donate their loose change in, if you so wished.
The organisers website is here: www.classicsforcarers.com The initial event in May raised over £13,000 for NHS Charities together. The JustGiving fundraising page is continuing from that first event - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/classicsforcarers. The aim is to raise as much as possible, and the total has now passed £15,000 from the sale of June's rally plates and stickers over the past week (those sales take a bit longer to be added to the JustGiving total but more frequent updates are made on Facebook, Twitter etc). For club members to take part all you need to do is to order a plaque or a sticker and put your suitably polished car on display at your home on the 7th June, so that members of the public who happen to be walking by can see your pride and joy and with luck make an on-line donation from the signage. The organisers would also love you to share any photos you take on social media to help enough friends and family to donate to the cause. Indeed, we too in the club would love to see your pictures right here on the forums, just post a reply in this very thread. It is an informal 'word of mouth' event, so there is no need to sign up to anything as such, just go to this page on the official website https://www.classicsforcarers.com/joining-instructions for all you need to know. It would be great if we could help make a difference and at the same time fly the flag for our marque as we join hundreds of other car enthusiasts across the UK in this virtual event. My thanks to member Bolin for drawing this event to our attention |

Many thanks for posting this up Paul, and thanks must also go to MGjim whose post is where I first learnt about this event
At the first event in May there was a wide range of classics taking part, from the old such as an Austin 12/4 and several Morris Minors and classic Minis to the newer such as a Lamborghini Countach kit car replica, a couple of Jaguar S-Types, a Daihatsu Copen, several new MINIs and a fairly new Aston Martin Vantage. Our cars are clearly on a par with the S-Type and are a absolute design classic, and also represent the last new model that Rover designed. If you worry that our 75s/ZTs are 'too modern' to take part, don't - they too can take pride of place and help to raise more funds for the NHS charities

If you are intending to take part and would like to display a rally plate or sticker on the day, then I suggest you order ASAP to ensure delivery before Sunday - in some places Royal Mail deliveries are still a bit slower than usual.
Rally plates and stickers can be purchased here: https://shop.dragonflyrally.co.uk/classics-for-carers/ All profits from sales go to NHS Charities Together.

Here's mine.
Went out in the ZT this afternoon. Only saw one other MGR in the shape of a TF. Lots of other lovely vehicles out there today though. A 1959s Citroen, a Volvo P130 ( I think) and a good smattering of MX5s all bar one with their roofs down |
