Doesn't seem to be any shortage of cats there.

No Steve there are a few! There is a neutering programme in place (the neutered ones have one of their ears clipped too) to try and keep the population to a manageable level. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Afternoon all.
The weekend trip out in the boat didn’t happen. The replacement turbo on Lady Emma was supplied with the wrong gasket and a new one won’t arrive till Tuesday. That and also Ivy (Mother in Law) has gone back in to hospital from the nursing home with a chest infection and dehydration. She was rather poorly yesterday but today is showing some signs of improvement. Hoping that she keeps on improving and will be well enough to be discharged back in to the care of the Nursing Home. The next chance (low spring tide) for us to take the boat under the Yarmouth bridges and on to Breydon water will be 2nd/3rd November. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and we will get some good boating in Onwards and upwards as they say.

That's slightly better news Jeff. Hope she's out again soon, there's nothing about a hospital environment conducive to helping you get better.

Certainly the Hospital car park charges don’t help your general well being

I stopped taking the car, I'm there every few months and parking is ridiculous, not the charges but the capacity. They are gathering in outlying hospitals by building new facilities but they're not expanding the site as such, they're building them on what were car parks. The news sick kid's hospital is sited on what was a huge car park at the front of the building. The new sick kid's is turning into a farce, was supposed to have opened months ago but they're still sorting problems, serious ones with the likes of ventilation and drainage!

Colchester Hospital is much the same, lots of new buildings popping up but no expansion of the grounds

A long day is nearly over. Set off at 8.30am this morning for Chesterfield to meet up with fellow Club member 'victorgte', to pay him for, and collect from him, some superb camera kit which he'd advertised on the Forum.
It absolutely hoyed it down for the first thirty or 40 miles; we kept seeing illuminated signs warning of a total closure of the M1 motorway, which eventually forced us onto the M62 heading for Hull, and then a further diversion onto the A1(M), followed by the M18 which meant that we rejoined the M1 South of the affected stretch. The effect on traffic seeking diversions was pretty massive, but we made it to the rendezvous with time to spare. Having 'done the business', we set off homewards, and popped into Woodall Services for p&t - to arrive at the same time as EIGHT coach loads of Birmingham City supporters heading for their game at Leeds this afternoon, and various West Brom supporters heading for their game at Middlesbrough. You can imagine the queues for drinks, burgers and loos - we beat a hasty retreat. We used the M18 route again, as the M1 was STILL closed (the accident that caused the closure was at 11.52pm last night); it took us over 45 minutes to move just five miles from the M18 onto the A1(M) Northbound near Doncaster - just nose to tail, all lanes chocablock - this was the main workaround for all Northbound traffic on the M1. Pretty Christmas crackered now - but despite all the hassle, it was well worth it for what I bought from Victor
