I don't believe it.... Yes I do!
Thought I'd seen it all. I was wrong.
ONLY IN THE UK Talk about punishment fitting the crime. These are the folks we share our roads with. Whatever next... blame the weather on it too! |

Drink driving - no sympathy.
Our laws are stricter than in England so even less sympathy as she was more over the limit. It would seem that she was working and not in receipt of benefits. Jeppson’s solicitor Grant Daglish said his client had misunderstood the situation and had only refused to give a breath specimen due to shock and her ignorance of UK law. He said: “This happened during a troubling time for her, as due to Brexit she was unable to apply for benefits which meant that she had to get a part-time job and was left in a difficult situation with catastrophic debt. “She is not a UK citizen so cannot claim benefits and if she loses her licence today, she could become homeless. “She lives in a remote area of Moray so her licence is important to her, her parents are trying to assist her as much as possible but they live in Sweden.” Press and Journal |

Most certainly am - the Swedish people are wonderful but we cannot arrive in their country and expect to get benefits from their welfare system just because we “have debts”. Their system does not allow that - Lord knows why ours does.
Neither could we expect a lenient sentence because of a spurious reference to a momentous political event. Certain people would blame the sun rising in the East instead of where they wanted it to rise - if they thought it would get them off a justified charge and an easier ride through life rather than doing what everyone else has to do and actually WORK for it. So yes - I am “OK with it” - anyone with an ounce of common sense would be. |

I'll join in by banging my drum again:
Choices (should) have consequences. If someone "choses" to live wherever IMHO they automatically chose to abide by all the laws of wherever they live. If I choose to go and like on Klingon then I automatically chose to abide by their laws. Now, if someone chosees to break any of those laws by, say, drinking and driving, then they get what's coming. As for some consideration because they are of another nationality I have a very simple solution. Any conviction for any criminal offence is deportation and seizure of all assets by HM Govt. Never to be allowed to come back or have any financial or other interests here. Choices and consequences........ And, of course, foreign nationals cannot receive any benefits whatsoever until they have paid a significant sum of money into our system. I'm perfectly happy for them to receive a benefit that is exactly the same as one available in their country to UK nationals. Not a similar benefit, one that is exactly the same. A true reciprocal arrangement. Maybe there should be an EU or even Global benefit system? And don't get me started on the recent Polish slave bosses pathetic sentencing.... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...g-smashed.html Andy. Last edited by AndyN01; 7th July 2019 at 07:50.. |
