Default P1300 Boost Calibration Fault...on a non-Turbo?!

So the latest twist in the ongoing saga of my K series non-turbo that is rough as a badgers backside when cold is...

a recurring P1300 "Boost Calibration Fault" error code (and also P0300 random multiple misfire, and P1316 excess emissions - but that's not surprising).

Now I can understand P1300 on a turbo model, but not on a NASP? Google hasn't been much help either...

Anyone any ideas?

Follow this link - the same OBD codes are evident and the engine is i think a non turbo on a Freelander - answer looks like a failing coil pack

Fairly sure it's not a coil pack as it only misses when cold, and there's no specific cylinder codes stored.

Bit of background to this - it's been absolutely awful when cold since I replaced the cylinder head and put a metal manifold on. Part of that problem was overfuelling due to a damaged TMAP connector. Now it's got the new connector crimped in, it's better but not perfect.

As your issues are when the engine is cold - failing IMG (when engine warms up it will expand ) -comes to mind as you have put on a new manifold. Could the air intake be compromised - this would give you the symptoms you describe but would have though even when hot??

It's the metal VVC manifold, so no issues with IMG.
I've done the usual leak check by spraying brake cleaner on everything - nothing to report.

The other thing it does (which makes me think I need another look at the TMAP sensor).

When it's cold and not very happy, you can lightly press the throttle to bring the revs up to c.1500. If you keep your foot in the same place and don't move the throttle, the revs will creep up to say 2100rpm in several 'steps' with a bit of wavering in between.
