Default Underbody stone guard recommendation

Does anyone know authoritatively what the OEM rubber stone chip Rover used was?

I have had several cans of varying things, the latest being Tetrosyl Stone something or other, and none of them are like the rubbery OEM finish.

Anyone any ideas of what is closest in a can?

Ta

Edit:- could it be TetraSCHUTZ I need?

Ross, unless you sandblast the entire underside of the car, then etch prime the resultant bare metal then coat with stonechip, all you will be doing is accelerating the cars demise by trapping in the rust and corrosion.

And just to satisfy your inner OCD, the original coating is THIS stuff

The grey stuff is for the sills isnt it? Where its painted over?

Dropping the exhaust I scraped off some of the what looks like BLACK rubber stonechip on the bottom of the spare wheel well.

This deffo looks black to me though.

Just wanted to go over the patch with an aerosol and get it looking like it was factory.

Ross, that particular selection of material was taken from Rover's own technical archive

That's what was used originally, and the entire underside of these cars is overpaintable, not just the sills.

You will never achieve a "factory" finish with an aerosol though, doesn't matter what

Its just a tiny area.

Are we agreed that its black underneath and grey on the sills?

In which case its 08868 I beleive.

Is that tech. archive something in RAVE brian?

HA...!! If you guys thought I was bad, I just stumbled accross some Youtube videos made by 3M which are soley dedicated to reproducing OEM textured finishes from their products! Good to know I am not alone :p

They had some freshly sprayed seam sealer and ran an air line over it to texturise like OEM. Ahh these guys are OCD too.
