Is the problem in all gears or just in 5th ?
Apart from that , how does the car run generally ? Smoothly , rough , gutless , powerful etc ?
Is the car's servicing up to date ; air filter , plugs etc ? How many miles has it done ? Has it had any major work like the cambelts changed recently ?
At the moment this one is a bit like "how long is a piece of string ? " …...

Is the throttle cable well adjusted? Does it rev to the red line in neutral?

It's possible the timing belt could have jumped teeth

I was going to offer that one too, but thought it would put a newcomer off.
