Is TMC still available on Hiline?
My new 75 is fitted with a Hiline unit with the mk3 navigation module in the boot.
As the CD in it was dated 2001 I bought the one shown in the attached photo. I was rather hoping the TMC function would be available but alas the TMC at the bottom of the screen does not turn green. I have one of my radio presets set to classic FM. So does TMS still work? If so, can anyone point me to the correct disk needed assuming the one I have does not contain it. I am able select the items I want to be reported tome but thats it. |

My problem seems to be finding an enabled disc.
After the failure of both the 2001 and the 2014/15 discs I downloaded and burnt the one from the link given in this thread: https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=283644 Still no luck though. I will try taking a look at the files on the discs when I get home. I just found this list of TMC codes which may help: wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/TMC/Event_Code_List I may try opening the files on the disc in a hex editor and searching to see if i can find any. On getting home from work I took a look at the three navigation discs that I have.
From what I saw they all appear to have the TMC data on them. Screen shots are attached. I also read in the booklet supplied with the 2001 disc under "What is on your disc" "Traffic information (Codes RDS-TMC) - is an additional service for motorists which offers the receipt of information on traffic congestion and jams as they happen, enabling smart journey planning." So it seems I have three discs that contain the relevant information yet my "TMC" at the bottom of the screen remains black. It seems I am missing something here. I have a preset tuned to classic FM as stated in Reebs thread on TMC here: https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...ht=tMc+chapter I have the Mk3 Navigation unit which it is stated has no problem using TMC codes, According to the above thread the "TMC" displayed at the bottom of the screen should turn from black to red as soon as a TMC disc is inserted. Can anyone confirm if this is the case or does it have to pick up data from a broadcast before this happens perhaps? I have tried selecting all the items from the TMC menu screen but am still stumped. I will go out and have another play but any suggestions would be gratefully recieved. Brian |

I think I might be going out to the car after supper to check that out - is that the settings from the main screen. I have from the Sat nav screen selected "T info" which takes me to a screen with the following options: Service selection TMC messages Destination guide Map If I select service selection I come to a screen with: RDS-TMC Traffic info Plus (in black cannot select) Deactivate traffic information If I then select RDS_TMC I get a box with the message: NOTE: No RDS-TMC function available Edit: I have just been out and taken another look. Not sure where you meant I should turn it on. I could see nothing for it in the settings accessed from the main menu screen. I have both RDS and TP enabled and showing on the radio tuner. I am not sure where else I can set it. The manual for the hiline does not really seem to cover this subject. Last edited by brianw; 4th June 2018 at 20:53.. |

Clyde and Mark,
Are you sure T.M.C. still works on your cars? I was led to believe that it was switched off about 4 years ago! I have a MKIV DVD in both my cars and nothing ever comes up anymore! Please tell me what discs you have (would that make a difference?)or system so I can update. Regards Neil |

From what I have read it was traffic master that was turned off but that could be wrong. I have been searching for information on here in order to try and get it working but to no avail so far. The hiline manual does not really cover the subject I suppose because MGR did not pay the fee to licence it. I am still not sure how I turn it on, or if I need to, I could find nothing in the settings. I read about the signal amplifier linked below being used: http://www.velleman.co.uk/contents/en-uk/p207.html I don't know if that would help but at the moment it would be good to know if you need a certain firmware etc on the unit and some instructions re it's use/setup. I did not have hiline in my previous car so I am just getting used to it. All three CD's I have look to have the tmc data on them so I am not sure what is missing or how to check it out. Brian |

TMC was working up my ZT-T within the last two weeks on Friday 1st June showing roadworks, traffic queues and road closures on our way back home from Cheshire.
My ZT-T has a twin tuner radio module fitted if you do not have one of these on your car the radio will need to be tuned to Classic FM. The advantage of the twin tuner radio module is you are able to listen to any radio station or cd and still have the TMC working. In addition to a TMC compatible disc you will need to access the setting screens for the T-info as shown below and enable the options. The TMC icon at the bottom of the screen illuminates grey when TMC is active amd working unfortunately where we live we do not receive a very good signal for radio stations so TMC often does not work on the drive but does work when travelling somewhere. The next time we take the ZT-T out I will take a photo of TMC working. |
