Default Some Advice Needed Regarding Gear Knobs

After suffering a life threatening illness over Christmas, I found myself the owner of a Mk2 Rover 75 Connie SE (was actually dads car, but he gave it me as a reward for pulling through) I've already started to de-project drive it, by replacing the light oak plastic with the real walnut wood from a mk1 , however I can't find a walnut gear knob for love nor money. I did however find this

MG Rover 75 Black Leather and Chrome Push Fit Gearknob Gear Knob UKJ100570LNF | eBay

Unfortunately my chassis number starts with 32 instead of 30, so it looks like it won't fit, despite it being a pull off/push on type.

Do you know if this type of gear knob was available to cars made AFTER chassis number 307060? I hope so, as IMO it'd look awesome with the walnut interior.

Thanks.

Hi David, and welcome to the club
I made the mistake of buying a new gear knob, leather body walnut top, only to find it is too wide for the stick. I'm going to get round this by wrapping one layer of tape at a time round the top and bottom of the stick until it is a snug fit.
If your new gear knob is wider than the old this is a solution. But if It's narrower then I'd suggest looking for another.

It won't fit as there are two sizes of shaft for the gear knob to go onto, 14mm ish for early cars, 12mm ish for the later ones (as I found when I did get a light oak gearknob)

I guess it's just a case of keep looking as they pop up now and again.

MK2 dials with IPK, FBH repair, headlining repair (again!) and some cosmetics.

Would that be the original Mk1 Freelander, or the Freelander 2?
