Mudflaps can cut right through the front wing...no kidding. The rears are on the plastic bumper so no problems with rust. Front mudflaps if not reduced will flex on speed humps etc and rub against the wing. I do like mudflaps, so I've cut a sacrificial piece of plastic the same profile of the mudflap, and stuck it to the wing. The material I used was....... a black vinyl floor tile. These could also be used to 'patch' a wheel arch liner.

I agree about mudflaps being a rust trap and wish to take mine off but that would then leave the area unprotected. Are the plastic? caps? (sorry don't know the propper term) still available that came as standard where the mudflaps would have gone? (if that makes sense)

I fit flat type mudflaps to the front so these kind don't wrap around the bottom of the wing whch can cause a mud trap and rub against the wing. They are on for the winter only to help keep the mess off the side of the car then I remove them for the summer months.

I took my flaps off as I was concerned regarding corrosion behind them a couple of years ago. Glad I did. A little polishing and rust treatment required but only a little bit thankfully. I fitted the L shaped plastic trims. Bought them new from Rimmers, they were only a few quid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

ha, this reminds me of a trip to a peugeot dealership to purchase a pair of 205 gti mudflaps, my boy racer days long before i discovered the delights of mgr!!, the guy behind the counter said he hadnt had anybody in for years asking for 205 bits, so he went off and came back with 9 pairs of said mudflaps, covered in dust, these have been sat there for ages he said. he let me purchase all 9 pairs for the price of 1 at £7.50, of course i fitted one pair to my car and the rest sat in the garage for the best part of 15 years, when i spotted at pair on ebay many years later for £82 i couldnt get mine out of the garage fast enough!!!, a very tidy profit. happy days indeed.
