You get a nicer 2 stroke oil from Waitrose. Im sure it tastes nicer too. Their biscuits do.
Slightly off topic but, my mother in law used to work in a biscuit factory. Same production line went in different boxes to different shops, marks and Spencer and lidl iirc same biscuits greatly different price!

I came across this thread by accident, but have found it very interesting. Just wondering if there are any updates or recommendations from people who have been using 2 stroke in their diesels for prolonged periods? The usual ratio seems to be 200:1, is that still regarded as best or has anyone found a different ratio to be better? Very interested to hear any comments and quite keen to try!

well.. I put 2 stroke oil in my diesels every few long runs.. it certainly quietens the engine down and I think I notice a slight improvement in smoothness..

and I just give it a big squirt when putting it into the tank.. no set quantity..

btw - just my opinions I may add..

Been using it for years no ill effects at all only use a mineral base makes up for the lack of lubricant in diesel fuel.

How can there be a lack of lubricant in diesel fuel - it is effectively a light oil?

Have driven my car from new and at 383k miles the HP pump and injectors are original, have never been touched and are still all working fine running on straight diesel.

Well said that man, whose injector balancing figures ranked among the best I've seen, when checked at a mere 360,000 miles

Two stroke oil used incorrectly in these cars results in injector glazing, and is not recommended.

As Mike says, diesel is what the car is designed to run on, not a two stroke oil mix......better suited to your Arthur Francis Vaspa

No, seriously, a few years ago, I did use 2T for a month or two, and the engine did run quieter. But after reading a few posts of potential detriments, (& I really couldn't be NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- anymore) I just stopped.
I have had to change 1 injector, but dont think I could attribute this to a few months usage of 2T.
Btw, what is the "normal" life expectancy of injectors?
Mikes mileages on original injectors are great, but is that the norm?

Yes, leave it in the bottle for when you need to next fuel your chainsaw/lawnmower/scooter

Just as an aside, has anyone run their two stroke m/ cycle, lawn mower, chain saw on 200ml of diesel fuel in 65 litres of petrol instead of two stroke oi? Just thought I would ask.
