A nice atmospheric shot - I saw Tornado come through my local station on Wednesday and due to the weather loads of steam and vapours, great.

I regularly visited the workshop where the K1 locomotive Blue Peter went through its rebuild. It was difficult to imagine in the early days just how they could restore it to its former glory...but they did. To see it under steam again was wonderful.

I was a fireman at Birkenhead & latterly Gloucester with BR during the early sixties, it was difficult to comprehend how quickly steam vanished, 21000 locos in 1960, all gone by 1968. It seems surreal that progress in my lifetime has gone from dependency on the use of steam locomotives to the computer age and beyond.

Wink Tornado

Had a few runs behind Tornado when she was at East Lancs Preserved line.
Diesel fan myself but must admit she is something special.
