A job well worth doing, I replaced the boot floor in both cars. The one in the 1.8T was particularly bad, like a relief map of the Somme!

The foam blocks were removed off the original boot board. Best place possibly to source the blocks would be a breakers yard.

I did a rebuild of my boot floor and fitted a new carpet. Done mine a bit like the tourer floor so only the middle comes up rather than the whole carpet.

I have done Bumble's boot board this weekend, used 12mm ply as had a free bit off a site
Firstly cut out board from the ply

Then gave it good coat of yacht varnish...allowed to dry overnight

Then re fitted the carpet and pull handle .....the clips are to short to go through the 12mm ply so I am going to get some alternative fixings maybe nylon nuts & bolts with washers.

Hopefully this will last a while and be stronger

The 6mm marine ply I used in the how to guide is the correct thickness for the handle clips to go through and clip together.

I used 6mm last time but did not treat it and as Bumble still has a leak the 6mm didn't last long....I used 12mm just to prolong the life of board till I find the pesky leak
