Thanks for Info on Pads Nic.
Were many cars fitted with vented discs to your Knowledge?
On a 2005 would have thought quite rare or a mistake?
Also has self Levelling suspension, Anti Roll bars at rear etc.

Different tyres can also have an effect on braking and I've proved this recently (all be it on a fire engine) that budget tyres can make huge differences to the performance of a vehicle dynamically.

I have some ground rules I stick to and I never change them - always afford the best when it comes to your eyes and teeth, the same goes for brakes and tyres! They're your life line and doing what I do for a living I see the horrors of budget tyres when doing tyre testing. I've seen budget tyres de-laminate, bulge and blow up under test conditions and the named proper brands walk through the tests.

Just me I know, but when you see it on a regular basis, you begin to understand why so much work goes into developing things.

Is that not a generalisation to put all "cheap" tyres in the same category....?

Granted, some of the less well known ones I've had on both cars and bikes have been absolutely shocking, especially in the wet. Equally my bike came with some "branded" tyres from new that were appalling boardering on dangerous in the wet.

A lot of the lower end market tyres are simply "old technology" that the main stream boys have sold on once their new technology tyre comes to market.
