The sad thing is he's continuing to trade

Wonder how many more poor unsuspecting customers get duped by his shoddy and unsafe workmanship

I'm glad your getting some of your money back Keith (fingers crossed) although I feel the court was far too lenient on him in my opinion !

If this guy worked on the gas surely he must be Corgi registered, I think I would be bringing this to their attention. I had a similar situation on a domestic service and Corgi sent out an inspector to check his work. Have you checked the Corgi register to see if he is listed?

Well done for pursuing this but it must be a disappointment not to get all your money back. Hope you get your settlement on time.

As worrying as it might be, I don't think that the GSIUR applies to touring caravans that are for personal use only (they do if you hire them out to others), so they wouldn't have to be 'Gas Safe registered' to work on gas appliances in a privately owned for sole use touring caravan.

Strange but true.

From what I remember he is Gas safe registered, and I think Keith contacted them when the whole affair started, I used the same engineer before Keith, but had no problems,, pity I recommended him now.

Default overseal

Hi Kieth

Overseal is a new one on me!
They used to recommend the non setting bedding sealant be removed and the area thoroughly cleaned every five years to prevent it drying out and cracking.
I have changed / re sealed many a awning rail in my time as a caravanner as well as replacing window seals
Well done for standing your ground
Regards
Steve

There is a separate qualification required to be able to work with LPG.

Just to highlight, this is not just me that took a grudge against this guy, he has bad reviews all over, trading standards are looking at him as another person has highlighted several issues, and this is not his/the companies first County Court Judgement.

I am aware that he is seeing these posts, and as such would like to say, I was not totally satisfied with the way the court dealt with him, I believe they allowed him far to much leeway, another day and another judge and he may not have been so fortunate. Albeit I respect the law and at least the outcome resulted in a Judgement that allows me to name and shame, legally. All I will say is that he has his fourteen days set by the judge, and to which he agreed, failure to comply will result in bailiff action, as to which he will incur further costs.

On a positive note the repairs have set away to put right the damp issues, and because of the lack of trust I am doing it myself. Will post pictures of the stages once nearing completion.
