Default Ecu-white Box??

Hi all...could anyone tell me what the white box/unit next to the ecu under the bonnet of an mgzt diesel is and what is its function?

Heater/glow plug control unit.

Yes it is..thanks for the info-i have a water damaged one and believe it may be effecting the main ecm-if i disconnect the glow plug ecu will the car still start (just for test purposes)?

At this time of year you don't need the glowplugs, but don't know if disconnecting the ECU will upset anything else. Someone here with all the words and piccies may be able to answer.

They suffer terrible corrosion if they get wet and the contacts pit badly quite cheap to replace though

I highly doubt it will be effecting anything else unless it has been swimming
