I popped into a locksmith when I had a similar problem on an old motorbike and the chap gave me some kind of weird powder, was a bit like graphite, it worked a treat, I don't remember the name as it was a few years ago now and it was expensive for the amount I got but it worked really well.

Hi, I had the same problem and also wondered what to use ?
Looking around the shed one day, and being a plumber, I came across a can of silicone lubricant spray used for putting plastic push-fit pipe fittings together. I gave this a try with quite good results. Available from most good plumbers merchants. |

Advice from AA bloke that attended when Kizzie decided to size her ignition lock barrel... DO NOT use WD 40 as it flushes out any existing lubricant and dries out. Use graphite based lubricant.

Rub an hb pencil over the key then put it in and out of the lock, the graphite will transfer to the pins and free them off.

I'm gonna try the HB pencil suggestion and see if that works I'll make sure first that I have enough lead in my pencil

Useful information:
If you have enough lead in your pencil, rubbing it on your key will definitely help get it in more easily. If you haven't got enough lead in your pencil, then you won't even get to the rubbing stage.
