Kenwood radio problems

Hi all. Got problem with the Kenwood in my ZTT. It all lights up and does what it supposed to but no sound out of speakers. It has jumped into life now and again but just a second or two. Tried another head unit from ebay and that has the same symptoms.
Any ideas plz
