Self leveling suspension?
Noticed today that, whilst parked on rough, lumpy, ground, the nearside rear tyre was only an inch below the wheel arch apex.
Looked at the offside rear and there was a good 3" clearance. Then in a level car park both were the same height. Both occasions the car body was dead level. Does this mean I have self-leveling suspension? And, if so, How does it work?

Not really.
Most of the weight is in the front of the car, so if the ground is low on diagonals, say the left front and the rear right, then the front will tend to lift the rear right up where the front left is sitting in a dip. Easy way to test self levelling: start with an empty car. Measure the height. Put a big weight in the back (bag or two of sand?). Measure the height. Bounce up and down on the back (sit in the back?). Measure again. If the height has come back up, you've got self levellers. At least this is how it worked on Range Rovers and Discoveries. |

Sorry, did not really make it clear, It was the left that was on high ground with the right wheel in a dip. Both front wheels were on level ground at a height between the two rears.

Check the codes under rear seat also to tell.
Ride height should always be the same regardless of weight in back if you have the Self levelling. Thats an easy one to check, as above. |

The rear anti roll bar will level out the rear of the car on uneven ground as you described.
