Default N Series Gasket Question

Yella Fella has HGF and the AA will cover the costs upto £500 under warranty.

Id like to fit the new N Series gasket but the Basic Kit (Basic Kit - includes the Head Gasket, Head Bolts and Lower Oil Rail only) available from DMGRS has the oil rail also. The AA wont cover replacing the oil rail or cover the extra work involved.

Would a compete Basic Kit need to be fitted or can the new N Series gasket only be fitted instead of the OEM or MLS gasket?

Can't see why you couldn't but it has been designed in conjunction with high tensile bolts and a stronger lower rail so to get the correct clamping pressure I'd be inclined to fit all three.

Also worth noting that the N series needs an even 3 thou liner height. If your liners are flush then you're better off with an elastomer option. Gasket is totally dependent on liner height.

I'd agree totally.
It's never a good idea to fit half a kit.
I would say if your lucky enough to have all liners sitting 3 thou proud go for the full kit, otherwise use the latest Payen Elastomer gasket, if it was me new bolts even if the old ones are in spec.
