Brake lights
This is driving me nuts.
I have an intermittent issue with the brake lights sticking on in my 75. Checked the forum and tried replacing the brake light switch and making sure it was properly seated, but that hasn't fixed it. So I'm thinking i's got to be electrical. Can anyone recommend someone in South East London or near here that may be able to resolve it before the MOT in six weeks?

Hi Steve.
Sounds like a short between brake light wiring and light wiring, could just be a short in one of the bulbs, try taking the rear bulbs out one at a time, if you have not done so already. Check the wires in the boot also to see if they are chaffed in anyway.

Try fuse 13 (i think thats what number it is) if the fuse blows, the brake lights stay on constantly, you may have a bad connection there.

I had a problem with my brake light switch, it was worn a bit , and kept slipping back as i put the brake on. would work for a while tho, but then always returned to sticking on lights.
Have you tried a new switch or did you reseat the old switch? if you used the old switch i would try a new switch, it cured my problem |

It may be that, I just re-seated the original.
ordered a new one from Rimmer's. Lets see if that solves the problem.

Be very careful when you renew the switch. The wires can be very easily pulled out of the connector , which goes into the switch. It is very awkward to do so take your time. Last edited by LotusLC; 13th October 2015 at 10:26.. |
