Default Cruise Control Question

Just a very simple question..... I would like to add at some point cruise control to my new Tourer which is an Automatic (all wiring looks to be present ).... are the cruise control ECUs the same or do I have to get a specific Automatic one?

Also as it looks like the wiring is present (plugs for the master switch and the plug by the fuse box (above the auto-box ECU) would the car have the switch on the brake pedal (just being lazy as haven't looked yet )

All the CC ECU's are the same as far as i'm aware

Brake pedal switch should already be there. My ZT didnt have any wiring for CC but the brake pedal and clutch pedal switches were both in place. I think the switches are used for other things too.

I have a full CC set for sale at the moment if you're looking for a set

I did this on my MKII 75 diesel auto and I never use it because it is pathetic, on the motorway as soon at it senses a slight hill it changes down a gear and revs its balls off to keep it at the speed that is set. It really is stupid.

Ive got CC fitted to my dads 75 cdti auto and it works perfectly, it doesnt do what you've explained above. We use it all the time. Might be worth looking into why its doing that on yours

I fitted cruise to my Auto diesel with the help of a how to fit it from Rick-sta . Mine kicks down only on steepish hills to maintain its speed , but i know what you mean, its does rev hard to maintain the speed, i quite like it tho, perhaps i am weird lol.
I would not be without cruise now its fantastic

Is yours 160 remapped? I haven't had the CC kick down when going up a hill, even when going up the QEII bridge. It does rev slightly higher though up more steeper hills

I love using CC up hill on a motorway, that's when you realise how much other drivers slow down and don't maintain their speed up a hill without realising it

Yes its had the remap Rick. Lydia loves it when it kicks down , it does slightly put you back in your seat. When i have had my other daughters in the car they thought something was wrong with it

Mine used to do that, until I found my MAF was duff. At the moment it's unplugged and handles hills fine. Yet to test it up the A685 hill again(last time, 131 bhp, broken MAF. At the bottom 65, by the top 35!!).
