Default car revs to 2000rpm on cold start up

I've checked the idle speed valve and cleaned it yesterday but it's still doing it. I'm not sure what it is. Any idea guys.

V6? Possibly the fast idle valve on the top of the throttle assy needs a service kit
MKG 100260 (L) the L may give better price

When my Rover V6 did that, I found a leak on the plastic inlet manifold chamber. Worth checking that. Good luck getting it sorted!

So mine was taken off and it was found to have been split open to remove the VIS butterflies. I would check the breather pipes and the t piece too. Very likely split due to age and mileage.

My V6 has been doing this for a while. Decided to check out the idle control valve this morning. It was rock solid to move but eventually got it shifting. I'm guessing it is meant to spring back ? Tried my best to free it up, reassembled and tested it and after a run now the engine hunts almost stalling before recovering.

Ooops. I think I will take it back off and try again, and worst case get myself down to the scrapyard this afternoon.
