![]() Been discussed several times one way or another; chassis/ floor-pan is Rover not BMW, centre 'tunnel' is for stiffness not a prop-shaft; if you want rear wheel drive best buy a motor designed that way, not the best handling FWD of it's type when first manufactured.

![]() Given the time and (limitless?) funds - I would love to play around with a Freelander 1 drive train and fit it to a ZT-T
It was done by MG apparently but due to the politics between BMW/Ford/Land Rover at the time - MG was not allowed to develop it. A shame - an "Allroad" ZT-T would have been a winner. Good info here:- http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthrea...4wd+ztt&page=3 Quote:- As for th 4x4 ZT_T it was a study to see if it could be done. As a Rover we couldn't build 4x4's due to the sell off of Land Rover to Ford by BMW etc and what not. I think that the aim of that car was to see if we could justify an MG 4x4, but I never really saw the car being driven about to be honest. i'm sure that it did from time to time, but I only every saw it in the "Flight Shed" either being worked on or sat there. __________________ |
