Default Amazon avoids its tax!!, again

So Amazon continues to move its profits out of the UK and pays low tax in Luxembourg.

Simple solution, if Amazon does not want to pay a fair tax here in the UK, simple, introduce a Turnover Tax of say 15%, that should concentrate their minds. Much better they pay £750 Million rather than the paltry £11 million at present.

Not ideal is it? I'm surprised there hasn't been more pressure to increase Lux tax rate from collective pressure from the members of the EU. Therefore making it less appealing to be based there. Not the same but I know the members of the EU cracked down on swiss bank accounts for tax dodgers.

Ultimately it's up to us as customers to not use them if we feel strongly about it. I try and avoid them, but they do have a great range of stuff that is hard to find else where

Direct the frustration to the law makers that allow this to happen.

Not on Amazons side, but if you look at the figures for amazon.co.uk (according to company house), then they didn't make much profit to the end of 2014 (just over £679,000,000 turn over with a profit of just over £34,000,000) so if they paid £11,000,000 tax then it's quite a chunk of the profit.

If you try and tax someone based on turnover then you are going to make all prices go up as some companies don't even make 10%.

Just my 2 pence worth (after tax that is )

If there is a loop-hole, then any company will make use of it
