Another ABS Question
Hi Guys, Another abs question , I know you all must get sick of them and I have read all the other posts.
It started with what id call a slight flutter on the brake pedal at low speeds (no abs warning light) Progressed into flutter on the brake pedal at all times (still no abs warning light) It then progressed into constant flutter on the brake pedal with abs warning light and the handbrake warning, after a few miles also noticed while on cruise control the car sort of holds back then goes again, not jolting but significant enough to feel it, this happens on cruise whether the abs light is on or not , but dosnt when not using cruise control. Its now progressed into constant abs warning light only upon start up. Now ive been reading and come to the conclusion this has to be either a sensor problem or the bearing, What im asking is with the symptoms above , what is more likely? bearing or sensor? I have visualy checked both sensors on the front only no chaffed wires. Also mines is the diesel , im sure ive read theres something different in the setup. Need this fixed asap. M.O.T next Saturday. Any input on this one would be appreciated, thanks Forgot to say , but both the speedo and cruise do work, but obviously with the cruise issue as mentioned above. Jeez that was a quick reply. Thanks. So do you reckon my problem is definitely at the front not the rear, or is that possible also? Cheers.

Okay food for thought , the cruise does stay on, its more like its not constant, as in smooth. If that makes any sense . But yeah I suppose that must be a front problem , Any suggestions who to buy the sensors from ? I do have access to dingbro/euro car parts/ pentland. Or good old fleebay. But would rather buy from a proven source. Cheers.

Don't buy anything until you have diagnosed what is wrong.
Changing parts that don't need changing can get expensive and you risk ending up putting more faults on the system. If you are handy with a meter you can test the sensors, bearing magnetic reluctors and wiring. More info here: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=207973 The speedometer signal is taken from the offside front ABS sensor, and the cruise from the nearside front, but a slight air gap fault on either front sensor may not show up on the speedometer reading or cruise control. .
