Air filter ducting????
Just been in the garage trying to remove the piece of air ducting from the front of the car , its held in place by 3 large phillips head screws and has the bellows effect ducting going back toward the engine cover .
The 3 phillips head screws just keep turning and there is a sqeaking noise like twisting rubber as you turn the screws and the screws will not come out , what am I doing wrong please.... Thanks...

The screws go into rubber nut type things that break off the duct and spin! You need to get in from the front and hold them with pliers or do as I did and rip the little bleeders out all together and replace with spire nuts.

If they break off and spin should I be able to just pull the ducting out and leave the screws in place ? because I have given the ducting a right good pull but it aint shiftin.....

If I remember rightly (I doubt it, old age does it's thing) you can remove the duct by removing the two screws holding it to the manifold housing then separating it at the round connection to the intake. It should then be possible to remove it back towards the engine and leave the three screws in place.

Sadly not - they expand as the bolt goes in. If you get a hacksaw blade in you can then saw through them, holding the top with a mole wrench. I replaced mine with the Landrover screws and spire nuts for both the intake and the undertray fixings. |

Try to reinstate your air duct as you will damage your MAF cutting the air intake as you have

Force a nail puller or something similar under the screw head and lever upwards to put the screw in tension. This should lock the rubber nut on the inside. While maintaining the tension unscrew the screw from the rubber nut. Worked for me. Cheers.

the rubber bung acts like a rawlplug, so you cant pull it out...
grip screw head with moles, drill the screws off , let the bungs fall into the duct and pull the whole lot out..
