All manual 75s were fitted with a Getrag 283 5-speed 'box. I believe it was shared with the Freelander as well. Getrag supplied different variants to a range of car manufacturers, including Ford, but I have no idea whether a six-speed conversion is possible.

There is a Getrag gearbox in the Freelander, but they aren't interchangeable.

It doesn't have a differential as the Freelander has the front differential built in to the IRD gearbox that bolts onto the Getrag.

There is also an extra switch fitted to signal first gear for the hill descent control, and looking at the rev counter at a steady 70mph, the gear ratios are slightly different.

The plugs have integrated rubber seals in their flange. No need to replace them.
