Default horrendous misfire

My Zt has a horrendous misfire sometimes dosent make any difference if you press throttle . Other times only runs under full throttle . Swapped coil packs leads plugs and had good clean of all terminal blocks . Any ideas? appreciate any feed back. After time the misfire clears and everything runs fine for a while .Started off just when hot but now does it from cold Cheers .

This may be a fuel supply problem Clive; a common problem with the filter. We call it FFS: fuel filter syndrome. What happens is that the two halves of the fuel filter cannister work loose and fuel pressure drops. Eventually the engine doesn't start at all.

To check for this you'll need to lift the rear seat cushion and remove the access plate on the passenger side. The filter is a large plastic cylinder about the size of a tin of dog food. Whatever you do, do not take it apart. Simply grasp the base and the lid to see if it can be tightened. If it can, you can buy a specially designed clip (called the fabled orange clip (FOC)) which prevents a recurrance.

Searching the forum for these terms will yield more information and useful photographs.

While your at it have a look in the bottom of the tank for water, if it's there you'll see it easy enough.
