Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

In the olden days...A cluch fluid Squirt was nothing to what we have to deal with these days.
Its an engine at the end of the day...Why make things unaccessible or out of reach of the ordinary motorist.....

Parts are much more reliable, much less work needs to be done and much less regularly. Add to that that there is so much more to be packed into much tinier spaces. Contrast the 75's engine bay and just how is packed into the space, versus cars from not that many years ago where you could climb in and dangle you legs in the bay alongside the engine to work.

I have cut most of the diaphragm away and just left with the top ring to seal round the lid

That will only encourage the fluid to escape from the lid.

Bad move, as a correctly fitted diaphragm TOTALLY prevents this.

Cutting the top off only means you've just shot yourself in the foot by creating a potential problem.

Check the piston seal as I posted a few posts back.
