This tread is truly facinating, but I think it lost any semblance of "low cost" rebuild long ago!

Thanks for the reply

Offcourse, new valves + valve seat recut would be the best option. I think I will try some more lapping and test the valves by the "WD40" method. If its tight, It should be OK if there are some minor pittings anyway I think.

I've filled the ports with petrol before, the level should not drop.

1. make sure the valve is level
2. Spray WD40 or any other fluid in the port.
3. There shall be no leakage/ traces of fluid on the underside of the valve

A cheap and easy test

Hi all,

I tried to lap in some more of the exhaust valves. The valve seat clears up pretty quickly, but the pittings on the valve remains

Question:
Do I need to recut the valve seats if I install brand new exhaust valves?? Would lapping in of the new valves be sufficcient??

Default K-engine project - A possible low cost rebuild?

You should be fine with just the valves, but it depends how much further you can take the seat.

Any chance of a pic?
