The picture doesn't look like a crankshaft pulley, slip over to ebay and look for R75 diesel crankshaft pulley and you will see what it looks like, also you will see the block in the recess on the outside edge.
You might have to peel back your wheel arch liner to see yours.

If you look at the top of the pulley in the pictures. There appears to be a small gap.

That's the one and the block is in the middle of the recess so visually it seems okay, now spray it with the garden hose and see if it quietens down.
The trouble is all the collapsing rubber is only visible from behind.

I've drenched it in water from the garden hose. Sadly, it made no difference to the noise.

I may have to bite the bullet and take it to a garage for diagnosis. Unless anyone in the Aberdeen area can have a look. Time will be paid for.

I'm taking the car up to Barrems Garage next week. Fingers crossed. I'll update you when I finally get to the bottom of things.
