Default Help needed to change UB fuel pump

Hi, I've just bought a new under bonnet fuel pump for my 2003 CDT and would really appreciate any advice on fitting it.

I've looked through the forum and can only find a 'how to' for the in tank pump.

Connecting the ub pump looks simple enough but not sure how to remove the old one and what precautions should be taken.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The easiest way. is to remove the battery and battery holder, and whilst your at it, change the lil filter next to it..

Be prepared, you will need a Torx bit set for the battery holder, you may wish to have new jubilee clips to hand too, the originals if fitted are crimped ones. Small screwdriver needed to depress tag on pump connector. When removing battery be careful not to lose radio code if applicable. Put some rags underneath the pump, you may get a little diesel spillage, the rest is pretty straightforward and the system is self priming too. Hope this helps, take your time.

My only problem was getting the lower pipe loose and off. Used a long handles 1/4 socket and all went well.

Be careful when replacing the battery, it needs to slip into the bracket at the back(near the fire Wall).

Use a piece of card as a washer to hold the bolt for the battery strap in place when offering it up to the hole.
