I tended to find that driving a classic in town was the absolute last place I'd want to be, as it would invariably overheat or get scratched.
Count yourself lucky that the roadtax examption is still there.. its going to get a lot, lot worse than this! |

quite agree - but one only has so many years and so many minutes and steering around the hassle in pockets of perceived freedom seems must the easiest thing! There are plenty of people who spend all their lives trying to rail against it, but it probably shortens life...?
Best way imho - ditch the telly and and stop buying newspapers. Then one is blissfully unaware of anything unimportant. If its important, someone will at least write! |

Isn't ageism illegal in the UK?
On a serious note if bans on vehicles purely on age grounds could be wide open to legal challenge; personal liberty, discrimination etc. Basing some legislation on pollution could also challenged under vehicle legislation which does not cover the restriction of vehicles that pass their relevant emmissions tests. A move like this may well be wonderful news to the beardies but it could be pretty shaky too. |

There having this problem with the LEZ (low emission zone) in London IIRC, with classic trucks and busses, i.e. when they have rallies and stuff, its just going to keep them away from the place, which i can understand to a certain degree with emissions, but its not like these vehicles are on the road 24/7 is it?

I know off topic, but couldnt beleive the amount of old Jags in the scrap yard today! fair few old Rovers/BL cars too But im sure with classic car events just hold them out of town, be great to see really big events in the country side i think especially in the summer anyway.

The numbskulls that dream up these ideas always fail to take into account the pollution and factory emissions produced everytime a new car rolls off the production line - It's actually greener and much less of a strain on natural and man-made (causing even more pollution) resources to use an old car in good condition (maybe with a few mods) than buy a new one every three years or so.
