The reason why the car couldn't be saved is because of the type of catagory write off the car is, i.e Cat A to D and the Salvage yards type of registration with the authorities. Once they purchase the car from the Salvage auction it had to be destroyed. I purchased the Roof wiring and overhead console from them for my latest project. There is a sticker on the wiring thats says: "Prototype loom - connections altered by hand" I did try to purchase the rear door cards but they have already been sold.

That's true when a car has been Classified as either a Cat A or B, but not my understanding of Cat C or D, when the salvage can be sold on and repaired and put back on the road, albeit after a VOSA check on a Cat C!

Judging by the pictures, the car only had minimal panel damage (front door) which meant that it should have been a Cat D and saveable!

Yes but the pictures don't tell the full story as there are no pictures of the other side or the full front or rear of the car.
Cat status is a very funny thing and can be solely down to the assesor. What you or I would term as a Cat D may be assesed as a Cat B due parts availability and other costs such as specialist equipment or skills to effect the reapir.
Also there is a growing trend in older Limousines and Hearses being written off with little damage, due to the nature of the vehicle not being as manufacture intended and the Coach builder is not always an approved repairer, just because they built the vehicle doesn't mean they can repair if you see what I mean.
There has been similar age and newer Jagauar limousines and hearses written off apearing on ebay to be repaired with worse damage, but due to the reasons above they were not repaired and offered for salvage despite there repaired value being greater than any Rover 75 would be worth.

It is, the entire car was built to MGR standards because the tooling came directly from MGR lol.

If its the Roewe 750L or MG7L the rear doors and glass/trim will be the same.

The car is not basically a Roewe 750L or an MG7L for Starters the Car is 200mm longer than a production 75, the others are only 100mm.
I bought parts from the car an it is a hand built prototype made by cutting a normal Rover 75 in two and adding panels made by MacNeillie & Son on a special jig like all MK1 Rover 75 limousines were made. It was only the later MK2 limousines that were made as complete cars by Rover. The roof console is from this car is different to "Production" LWB cars, as is the wiring loom and the console brackets. I know this because I bought these parts from the breaker.
