When you fitted the new power VIS did you make sure the pin was located into the actuator rod first?

I didn't actually fit the new power vis I only conect the electric plug and then started the engine (the old vis unit was still in the manifold) and watched the cam move when I reved the engine to make sure it worked and it did but only for a few times then it stoped in mid travel and so did the old one when I did the same to that. Does it matter that I done it this way or should I of fitted the new one into the manifold first?

Should have fitted them first, as already said, they'll have over run.

Your right chris its supposed to be fitted to the car first or it will over run, hence why the vis tester only uses a 9 volt battery to stop it happening

But why should they over run as soon as the cam hits the micro switch it shuts of the power to the motor to stop it otherwise the motor will try to continue running even tho the power vavles have closed or opened thus putting a high load on the motor which will burn out a track on the circuit board or over load the slider connect to the six power valves isn't that the point of having the micro switch or is there another reason the micro switchs are there if so please tell me. Ps the cam didn't stop in an overrun position it stopped midway between the two micro switch

The power vis uses the action of the butterflies to stop the inertia of the motor carrying the drive around until the cam contacts both switches, (unless you buy recon ones from me that can have an anti over run mechanism fitted inside

The other weak points on the power Vis are the joints on the pcb, the ones that hold the switches crack and the vis can become intermittent or the switch can become displaced. harder to spot are the dry joints on the relay, these are also intermittent. To combat this on my refurbed ones all switches are drilled, tapped and machine screwed to the pcb and all solder joints are remade with solder containing 40% lead for extra strength.
