Default Window switch problems

Hi all,

I am having a problem with my drivers door window. I think related to the cold weather we are having! The window comes down easily enough but it keeps stopping on the way back up. It gets to a point where I have to repeatedly use the switch and it moves a couple of mm at a time. It seems to ease off once the car/outside air warms up.

Can anybody point me in the right direction on how to check and maybe insulate the switch? I am really hoping I won't need to take the door card off as that scares me!!!

Many thanks :xmas-smiley-004:

Try some suitable lubricant in the window channels. I once heard that dealers used washing up liquid.

If your window will just rise a bit is because safety cirquit is stopping the motor when it takes too much current. This if as safety measure when you have your hand between the glass end the door. Your problem indicates that the window is not moving smooth upwards enough, so no electrical problem.

(Regular use of) silicone spray on the window support rubbers will fix this problem.
With the window down give it a good spray from the bottom of the rubber upwards on both sides.
Move the window upwards (as far as it will go) and down again, spray again, and so on.
You will see with every spray the window movement will becomming more smooth.

Spray every 3 months, and your problem is permanent solved.

Rob.

On the top of the window there is a sensor for one touch up only on the drivers door if it is pressed the window will only inch closed it sounds like you may have a problem with that

Ah that sounds like it could be related!! It does generally go most of the way up with just the last couple of inches being a problem. Where exactly would I find the sensor to check?

I will try lubricating it as well anyway as I guess it can't hurt!!
