Let us know how you get on. If you draw up blanks on the above suggestions and your car is still suffering from the same symptoms then come back and I'm sure between us all we'll come up with some more suggestions!

Hi Mike, Welcome,

If you are near Keith he does do T4 sessions for a very competative price. send him a PM if you are local. Very helpful chap indeed.

4cyl K series do this if the throttle body needs cleaning, especially the ones with plastic throttle body. Don't know if KV6 suffers similarly but it might be worth checking.

Fuel starvation effectivley the same as running out of fuel would not cause the mil light to come on afaik.
The car needs to go on T4 to see what is causing that to light up

Hi All,

Thanks to each for the info and help.

Unfortunately I live in Dorset so the option of asking Keith to take a look was not on. However, through the links on this site to Xpart I found one of their franchises (if that is what they are called) locally with a T4. The garage is called Cars and is in Bridport and they have bought all the main dealer tools including the T4 from a local MGRover Garage that has, apparently, decided to concentrate on its new Jap franchise.

I took the car to them a few of days ago and the popped it on theT4 and said there was a fault with the Crankshaft sensor. The car is with them today and I am having the sensor replaced which will hopefully cure the problem.

Cheers

Good. Hopefully that will be the end of it and you can get back to enjoying your car.
