Jocobs folded and gone
I went in to Leicester yesterday to go to Jacobs and look at the 550D in store only to find out they had folded and had gone in to receivership.

Sadly a sign of the times Anthony. Have you decided what to do about the 550D?

Yes I have Philip, I am going to buy one from Jessops next month I was not impressed with the 600D as the only real change is a flip out screen which in my view is just something that will break easily and just not worth the extra money.

I have a flip out screen on the Canon sx 40 HS and have used it for taking awkward shots at close range. I had to have the whole LCD replaced for £40 after I took the camera out with me on a boating trip and somehow the unit got splashed.
I am disappointed with some of the features which the Canon lacks. It does not track a moving object at high speed very well and has no remote for stealth photography. Low light photography is no good. On the plus side I have taken some excellent photos of the surface of the moon and image stability is spot on. I see that Canon is launching the Canon sx 50 HS this month and it will be interesting to see if Canon learned any lessons from the sx 40 HS. Out of interest Anthony, can you remind me what you will be using your new Canon for? |
