There are no impact sensors as such on the 75/ZT, things have changed a bit since then.

The SRS system is controlled by the DCU (Dynamic Control Unit) that is located under your elbow below the centre console. It is a box that is monitoring the car and detects forward, rearward and lateral impact pulses and then it decided if and when to fire the bags either front, or side (plus curtains if fitted).

Nic.

PS no, I'm not in India - I am however out in Italy testing again as I type this. Only arrived today and I've got 9 days out here so as my trip falls over a weekend, I'm hopefully going to pop over to Lamborghini again to get some pictures in the museum as I couldn't do it last time I was here, and then on my way up to my Auntie who lives on Lake Garda, I've got to go through Modena, so I may pay a visit to the Prancing Horse manufacturer and see what I can see too!

Default Srs Things To Check

Scary thread this.
You beat me to it Alex.......

A 52 plate 75 I had all the carpets out of recently, had 2 extra impact sensors
mounted half way along the inner sills. Pretty sure they said SRS on them.

Anyway the point is, if your car has had plenum flooding on the past or any water leak that flooded the carpets, then these sensors are going to get very damp or worse still completely submerged!!!!

Finally my advice to anyone driving round with an intermittent SRS lamp....get it sorted ASAP! Don't keep moving the seats or wiggling the wires as a temporary fix( Pence to fix and under an hours labour both seats)

An intermittent feed to an SRS device due to a faulty connection in my opinion, could be the very cause of the mystery deployment.

It's not a later thing to have these side sensors. My '99 Cowley car has them too.

And you are right, they get drowned when you have a water leak.

I don't know how they 'talk' to the main control unit, but I would expect that water stopped them triggering and caused a warning lamp.

More likely, is a short between the wiring to the seat bags and something else, maybe where something got hot and melted some wires together.

If the airbag unit had triggered them as a result of getting a crash signal from the side sensor, I would expect a code to be stored in the airbag ECU, and a warning lamp to be on the dashboard now, but that may not be so.

When the airbags have gone off, does it blow the srs control unit on Rovers? Honda ones burn out and I just wondered if the Rover ones were the same.

You have to replace the Control Box and Obviously the Airbags that went off. (according to XPart who I asked about this).

Yep
I could confirm that also; the airbag control unit is rendered useless if activated.
