When you say cover the fins you mean the botton of the fins right not the top as below. Arctic.

Coolant Level
Brilliant. My car handbook shows 2 flat markers (through filler) with Max & Min clearly marked.
Good old Haynes shows max & min printed on outside of header tank (narrow side). On page 1B*17 when changing coolant, fill to bottom of neck, run car till hot, let cool then top up to Max mark. Think mine has fins as above post. Haven't had to top up since I've had the car from new (routine changes have been done)

No I didn't fill it right to the top,just enough to cover the "fins" as shown in your photo.
